We LOVE Christmas!!! We learn about Christmas around the world during the month of December. Our friend Gingie, a stuffed gingerbread man, runs away from our class after we read his story. He is too excited about Christmas to stay in our room! He visits different countries and sends us letters, crafts, and/ or goodies from the place he is visiting. It is so much fun and the kids can't wait to see if we have mail!! I have captioned the pictures so you will know what is going on.
Making the Poinsettias that Gingie sent us from Mexico. They were thrilled to make them and write the fact about them since it was from Gingie!
This is one of my most favorite ornaments that we make. We make the salt dough as a whole group and then each child takes his or her ball of dough and plays with it for a while. After we have worked the dough, each child rolls it out and places a hand on top. I trace their hands with a butter knife and then cut them out. I let them air dry for a few days before painting. We paint them to look like Santa.
After learning how to paint correctly with the turkey paintings, we decided to try Christmas trees. They were experts!!!
Pictures in front of the Christmas tree in our room:
After learning about wants and needs, we decided to paint Christmas pictures for everyone that works at our school. These are pictures of the kiddos ready to deliver them.
It was a very Merry Christmas!!!
